The thing I’ve noticed with the recent trends is that Anthropic seems to emphasize safety guardrails and has publicly staked out “red lines” around things like mass surveillance and autonomous weapons. OpenAI has also made similar commitments to the Department of Defense, but they’ve been more willing to work closely with government contracts and now these equity discussions. https://www.pcmag.com/news/us-government-could-take-a-stake-in-openai
